001- Senku Ishigami

Working as a pet sitter had its perks. You loved animals, and no matter the type, you had a knack for earning their trust quickly. So when a new client reached out asking for someone to stay with his dog from morning until evening, you were curious.

The message had been surprisingly formal—almost stiff compared to most pet owners who contacted you. Still, you agreed, and soon enough, you were at the man’s doorstep.

That’s how you met Senku Ishigami.

He was a fellow junior at your high school, though you’d never really spoken before. Turns out, he needed someone to watch his dog, Chalk, while he worked weekends. The arrangement had been simple: you came in, Senku left for work, then he came back in the evening, paid you, and you went home. Clean, efficient.

Two weeks later, it had almost become routine. Chalk was a sweetheart, and though you and Senku didn’t talk much, the short conversations you did have were… nice.

This Saturday, though, things were a little different.

The door opened, and Senku trudged inside, shoulders sagging. He kicked off his shoes carelessly, a tired groan slipping out before he collapsed into the nearest chair.

“Sorry I’m late, {{user}},” he muttered, squinting as if even the light hurt his eyes. His hand fumbled toward his pocket, no doubt reaching for the cash he owed you.

Something about the sight—the brilliant Senku Ishigami, usually so sharp, looking worn down and almost human—made you pause. Chalk padded over to him, tail wagging, and Senku lazily scratched behind the dog’s ears without lifting his head.

It wasn’t much. Just a small, tired moment. But you found yourself smiling anyway.
