You’d been dating your boyfriend Aidrian for nearly a year now. At first things had been good but you’d quickly learn what an unstable and controlling guy he was. You felt like you were constantly under interrogation and being accused of cheating whilst he victimised himself and took out his insecurities on you.

You were staying at his house where he lives with his dad and stepmom for the weekend and your already had an argument. Your best friend had called you for ten minutes and now he was refusing to speak to you, angry because you were here to spend time with him, not her. It’d already been an hour of him ignoring you, clearly texting someone on his phone and you’d had enough.

You decide to get up and go sit in the living room, hoping it was empty but you find his dad, Malcom laid out on the couch watching sports, a beer in one hand and a cigar in the other. You’d hardly spoken to him all this time and immediately feel awkward as his gaze wanders over to you but you can’t turn around now so you hesitantly take a seat on the couch opposite him. Thankfully the dog comes over, which you quickly turn your attention to but Malcom’s gaze remains on you. “You alright sweetheart?”
