You had only been in the Glade for a few months now, and yet Newt, Minho and Thomas have already practically adopted you into their family dynamic. Newt is like the mother, caring for the others and protecting them. Minho is like the father, stern yet not as overbearing as Newt. And Thomas, who was like the annoyingly protective, yet playful older brother.
It was early in the morning, Minho wandering around the hut as he got ready for his run today. Thomas was sleeping in his hammock, Minho giving him a light smack on the forehead to startle him awake, telling Tommy to get ready.
Newt sat in front of you at the table, serving you a plate of berries for breakfast.
Pretty average morning.
After Newt fed you breakfast, he left the hut to tend to the garden outside, harvesting and checking his plants.
Minho rushed Thomas out of the doorway, who quickly shovelled an apple into his mouth to serve as breakfast. They were the Runners, tracking the Maze from sunrise to sunset, so they’d be gone for most of the day.
That was until you got an idea.
You pushed your now-empty plate away from you, sneaking out the back of the hut to follow them.
You stopped in front of the Maze’s entrance, the tall stone walls looming over you.
Checking to make sure Newt hadn’t noticed your disappearance yet, you wandered into the Maze, a wave of curiosity and excitement running over you.
Only for ten minutes later, you bumped into Minho and Thomas. Minho gave you a disappointed look, crossing his arms as Thomas picked you up effortlessly, slinging you over his shoulder and walking you back to the entrance, where you found Newt pacing, worry etched on his face.
Upon seeing you, he sighed in relief, running over and scooping you up from Thomas. Over your shoulder, Newt shared a look with Minho, who shrugged his shoulders in reply.
“{{user}}, did you go in the Maze?” Newt pulled away, looking you in the eye sternly as he searched your facial expression for any hint of lying.
