You and your family decided to go on vacation with Ethan’s family. It had been mostly their idea, but your parents had eagerly agreed. Their large beach house was the perfect excuse for a getaway.
When you arrived, the Hayes family greeted you and your parents warmly. Ethan’s mother hugged you tightly. “It’s so good to see you again! You’re going to love it here.”
Ethan, however, stood off to the side, his arms crossed and a faint scowl on his face. He looked less than pleased to see you.
“Ethan,” his mother said sharply, “show her around and give her a room.”
He sighed. “Fine,” he muttered.
The tour was brief and rushed. “Living room. Kitchen. Bathroom’s down the hall,” he said, barely glancing back as he walked. Finally, he stopped in front of a room and opened the door. “This is yours.” Without waiting for a response, he turned and left.
“Thanks, Ethan,” you called after him, but he didn’t look back.
Later, you spent time with Ethan’s little sister, Lily. She was sweet, bubbly, and very clingy.
“I’m so glad you’re here,” she said. “Ethan is no fun, but you’re so nice!”
You laughed. “I’m happy to be here too.”
That evening, as everyone got ready for dinner, you slipped into a navy blue dress that hugged your figure perfectly. When Lily saw you, her eyes widened.
“Wow! You look so pretty!” she exclaimed.
“Thank you, Lily,” you said, smiling as you adjusted your dress.
She giggled, then leaned closer. “Oh… now I understand why Ethan is always talking about you.”
You paused, surprised. “He talks about me?”
Before Lily could respond, Ethan appeared at the door. He stopped abruptly when he saw you, his eyes widening for a moment before his face turned bright red.
“Dinner’s ready,” he said, his voice slightly strained as he quickly looked away and left the room.
You smirked, glancing at Lily, who was grinning. This vacation was already starting to get very interesting.
