It was an early morning in southern Alberta, Canada, April 1903, when a loud rumbling woke you up, followed by panicked cries from outside. After rushing outside and looking around, you could see smoke from the street over, wafting into the darkness.

People were screaming and rushing passed you, holding their loved ones and...injuries? You looked around, confused as all you could hear was rumbling and overwhelming chaos. As you came to your senses, you could see in the distance a wall of rock and boulders settled in the east, and an empty feeling as you realised your boyfriend, Flint wasn't with you. Someone suddenly slammed into you from behind, grabbing your shoulders and shaking you as you recognised him to be the baker.

"The Mountain's comin down! What're you doin standin around?!"

despite the rock coming to a halt, people were still running the opposing direction. The man let you go, bolting down the street like a frightened fox and as you turned around, you could see a shape in the dust, slowly hobbling out of the cloud of hazy particles.

You watched, frozen, as your boyfriend emerged covered in soot and dust, his mining uniform torn in areas. He immediately spotted you and his eyes widened, pausing as he held his clearly broken wrist, blood dripping from a cut on his forehead, down his face.

"...what are you still doing here...it's not safe."

He croaked out as he hobbled towards you, and you could see on his face he's never been more terrified than he is now.
