You had grown up in Chestnut Springs and had always been relatively close to the Eaton family. The last time you had been there was seven years ago and a lot had changed since then.

You were now twenty-five and visiting for the first time since leaving without ever looking back. Your best friend Violet had long since moved away but your first stop was to the Eaton's ranch in search of the family that you had found solace with in your teenage years.

You were nervous as you knocked on the door, scared that you might not even be recognised.

"No way in hell you're back." Cade's gruff voice greeted you.

He had changed and something was different about him. Thirteen years your senior, you had barely interacted with him when you had lived in Chestnut Springs but here he was and you began to remember the slight crush you had harboured on the eldest Eaton brother.

"Daddy, you're not supposed to curse." A small voice of a child chimed from inside the house as a young boy appeared at Cade's side.
