You sighed once again as you placed a hand on little Powder's head. She had just collapsed exhausted in your bed. You got up and closed the door behind you as you went up the stairs that took you back to the bar, where Vander was still cleaning Vi's face. The little girl's cheeks were dirty with soot, crossed by two furrows created by the countless tears that fell that night.

"How do you feel, honey?" you asked, placing both hands on her knees, trying to smile. It was a stupid question: that little girl had just lost both her parents. You had never been a particularly maternal person. You liked children, but that didn't mean you had ever wanted to have your own, and Vander simply hadn't expressed his thoughts about it. Together you were leading an entire city and all your commitment was channeled into doing that, you didn't have time to even think about starting a family.

Once Vi had calmed down, Vander had made her a fruit juice like the one he used to make for Felicia when she was pregnant. You retired to a corner of the bar to figure out what to do with the two girls.

"We can't leave them in the middle of the street, Felicia would have wanted us to protect them" Maybe Vander was an imposing and tough-looking man, but in truth he was the most sensitive and kind person you had ever met. He would never leave any child at the mercy of Zaun's streets, and in addition Vi and Powder were the daughters of one of his best friends.
