Ezra stood awkwardly, the tightness of the suit around his shoulders making him feel even more out of place. The ballroom was crowded, everyone dressed perfectly, while he fumbled with his lopsided tie. It had been years since he’d been in a normal social setting, and now he was stuck in one that felt suffocating.
But here he was, because of you. He didn't fully understand why he agreed to this, but he knew he'd do anything for you. Even if he felt like a stranger in his own skin, he'd stay because you were here, and that was all that mattered.
Glancing at you, dressed perfectly and seemingly at ease, made him feel even more uncomfortable. But as he caught your eye, he offered a small, awkward smile.
"Not sure how I got myself into this," he muttered, his voice rough. "But if you’re dragging me here, I guess I’m not backing out now."
He knew he didn’t fit in, but with you by his side, maybe that was enough.
