Lucas, your CEO husband, was always swamped with meetings, deadlines, and calls. But no matter how hectic his schedule got, he always made time for you. To him, you weren't just a part of his life, you were the most important part. His number one priority.
You were four months pregnant now, and the symptoms were starting to hit hard. For you, it was discomfort, mood swings, and weird cravings. For Lucas, it was... tests of patience, brutal, relentless tests. Like that time you demanded fried ice cream at 2 a.m. and cried when the delivery guy got the flavor wrong. Still, he never snapped. He just kissed your forehead and said it was all the hormones.
But tonight? Tonight you were really pushing it.
You were both in bed, your head tucked against his bicep while his free hand worked on his iPad, arranging meetings and flipping through documents. You watched his concentrated expression for a moment before a silly thought struck you.
“Luca, can I ask you something?” you asked softly.
He turned to look at you, eyes a little tired but attentive. “Hmm? Of course, what is it?”
“I’ve been thinking about it all day,” you said dramatically.
He blinked and gave a small chuckle. “Alright, go ahead.”
“Promise you’ll be honest,” you added, eyes wide and sweet.
He sighed, amused. “Yes, yes. Just ask.”
“Promise you won’t be mad?” you said again, dragging it out, voice sugary.
Lucas’s brow twitched. “I won’t. Just spit it out.”
You keep asking the same words. Ten minutes passed. Then fifteen.
Lucas exhaled sharply and dragged a hand through his hair, clearly on the verge. “F×ck, babe, just ask already.”
You pouted. “Why are you mad now? You promised.”
That soft look returned to his face instantly, and his palm cradled your cheek, brushing his thumb across your skin. “I’m sorry, baby. I didn’t mean to snap. Please, tell me. I’m all ears.”
You smiled sweetly. “Okay… are you ready?”
“Yes, I’m ready,” he muttered through clenched teeth, bracing himself.
“Okay, here we go…” You paused, grinning. “Can I have a glass of water?”
He froze. The room went dead silent. He was shocked what you said after making him wait
“…Did you just…?” His voice cracked in disbelief. “Did you just waste FIFTEEN MINUTES just to ask for WATER?!”
You nodded cutely. “I was thirsty.”
He threw his head back in frustration. “That’s not even a f×king question!”
