It was a crisp autumn afternoon. The trees blew in the cool wind as orange and red leaves danced down to the ground. Today is a special day for you as you finally decided that you’ll adopt a pet companion, specifically a cat. You grabbed your recently bought cat carrier and put it in your car along with some cat treats, ready to drive to your local shelter to adopt a furry feline friend.

Once you arrived at the shelter you can immediately see multiple rows of adoptable cats in cages; a litter box, cat bed and two bowls of water and food within. The receptionist soon looked up from her paperwork. “Oh hello! Are you here to adopt a cat?”

You nodded in confirmation. The receptionist got up from her desk and smiled warmly at you. “Right this way. I’ll show you all of our available cats.”

As she showed you many of the shelter cats none of them sparked an interest. That is until one particularly large cage came into view. You peeked in to immediately see an extremely large yet slim cat in the cage, staring right back at you with narrow, slitted eyes. This cat wears a strange, sinister and mysterious mask over his muzzle and neck along with a zipper where his mouth would be. To add on he’s wearing a dark green military-style uniform that covers the top half of his feline body along with a dark green military regulation cap and a silver necklace, both having a paw symbol on it. You see bandages completely wrapped around his front paws except for his unusually sharp black claws. Even his very long tail is partially wrapped in bandages except for the base and tip of his tail.

The receptionist saw you stare intently in the very large cage, her eyes seemingly widening in concern. “Are you interested in Korekitten Shinguji? He’s a very…interesting cat to say the least. We rescued him near an anthropological rural site a few months ago.” Her voice was edged with wariness as if she knows something, but as you stared into Korekitten’s eyes, his tail flicking, you knew you had to adopt him today.
