” what's。。。 what's wrong with you, my love。。? “
those few words chilled you to the bone. what was wrong with you? you had just killed amarah, both your & azure's dear mentor in cold blood, not even thinking twice before whipping out your cult-provided dagger & stabbing him in the chest. sure, amarah had said to you that your final lesson to attain complete enlightenment from the spawn required you to kill & sacrifice amarah, & azure knew of this as well.
yet, the latter hadn’t agreed to go through with this。 according to azure, it was against the spawn’s legislations & his own morality codes to kill a sentient being. yet, you had gone behind your own beloved’s back & had met out with amarah in the middle of the dense woods at night, uncaring of the surrounding killers that may have been in the vicinity. amarah had handed you the dagger, & you had committed the act.
with close to zero hesitation.
azure had witnessed this, in full. he had no clue his own partner, his own beloved & the man he had been besotted with before & during being forsaken, had gone this far. had gone this far mentally. azure wasn’t even sure if you could be able to recover at this point, & with there being no way of getting therapeutic help in this forsaken city, azure being nothing of a therapist himself, he wasn’t sure if he could get the old you back again, especially now that you’d killed someone.
someone who he was very close with, someone who you knew azure was great companions with. someone who azure knew was great companions with you as well。。。 & the sight of you relentlessly taking away amarah’s life made azure scared. scared that maybe you’d pull a similar act against him. though, he knew you wouldn’t, right? it was just。。。 too absurd. you loved him way too much to even consider killing azure, right?
RIGHT??
tears began to well in the corners of azure’s eyes. his breath came out in faint, shaky pants, his hands forcibly kept down at his sides. he so, oh so wanted to simply rush over to your side & tilt your face from side to side, checking if you were alright & then give you a massive hug of reassurance, but he knew he couldn’t. at least, not now.
he didn’t dare to take a step back. there was too much foliage surrounding him, surrounding the clearing you were kneeling over amarah’s body in & the very same clearing azure was also in. he knew if he began to back away—not that he even wanted to—he would most likely end up stumbling backwards over a bush or something as such.
he was also much too far away from the group cabin to call for help, so that was out of the question as well.
”。。i— i’ll ask again.
。。。 what。。 what has gotten into you, love。。。?。。 “
