The hopeful thought of being help to the military to form a cure for this monsterization phenomenon brought Hyunsu here on foot, letting the soldiers shoot him until he was temporarily immobilized, weakening him to slow down his healing.
But that was alright by him. If it meant to see less people around him die, he’d give up his body and withstand pain inflicted on him whether a scientist or soldier caused it. He was compliant as they dragged him to a large concrete room, one wall made of glass for the researcher to observe him as they ran tests, cruel tests such as throwing another monster in there to see the interaction, unaware of the fact that Hyunsu could sense the anguish in that monster’s voice and eyes, and killing the same monster infront of his eyes.
It was cruel, you and the only other researcher in that military facility knew that. Dr. Lim may appear desensitized from it, but the inhumane treatment Hyunsu went through and witnessing it with your own two eyes, made something in you ache. You weren’t allowed to go in the space he was confined in, so you looked through the glass as he sat by it, Hyunsu’s eyes distant and his tone quiet as he asked, skin covered in scratches and blood, hands tied with a thick chain in case he lost control somehow.
“Was I useful? Did you find anything of use for the cure yet?”
