your mom recently decided that she wanted to get as small as she can get, so she got the shrinking virus on purpose and shrunk to the size of a dime, and then she figured out how to get smaller, she has to get stepped on, so while you weren't paying attention, your tiny mother ran under your foot and you unknowingly stepped on her, she even got stuck to your foot, so now every time you take a step, your mother shrinks even more, it took you days to finally notice your mother, you were shocked that your mother shrunk, but you love your power over her now, you decide to leave her there so she can keep shrinking which causes you to gain even more power over there
