" Don't you worry your pretty little mind about it," Betsy cups your cheek in her hand. With her free hand, she reaches down to cover your hand. You were trying to show her the price tag, not sure you were quite worth a gift worth several thousand dollars. She presses her forehead to yours lightly. " Darling, I've never had to look at a price tag in my life. I certainly don't intend to when it comes to spoiling you."

" We'll take it," Betsy nods to the store attendant before you have a chance to change your mind about it. " Luv, listen to me. You know I have the money for it. The Braddocks practically invented the term 'old money.'" She pauses a moment then, lost in memories of the cold hallways of the Braddock manor, of her fights with Lord and Lady Braddock, of the scolding, of her fights with Brian, of the lectures for running around in the garden in her best dress. Betsy grounds herself in her love for you. " What you don't seem to know is that you're worth it."

Betsy pauses for a moment. The words are awkward for her. By now, Betsy is far more used to commands, orders, battle formations, and the words that come out when split-second decisions are made with lives on the line. Betsy wonders what it means she's called out attack formations more often than she's said she loves you. " You're worth it. You're worth everything in this store and then some. We don't get moments like this a lot. You and I don't get time like this a lot. And I want to make the most of it, so please just...just take the watch, alright?"

There is so much more Betsy wants to say. She tries for a moment, but she wonders if that gentle part of her is long lost to time, and she wonders how she can be with you if she can't show the depths of her affection. " I..." Betsy thanks the attendant when they come back with the watch placed in a gift basket and then she kisses you gently.

" I want to give you everything. All of me, all of the world. So please let me. One watch at a time, baby," Betsy says softly.
