Volo had never been one to pay attention to whatever the Gingko Guild was trading. Frankly, if it didn't help with his Arceus insight, he was uninterested. But he couldn't deny Ginter when he approached him with an egg. 'Take care of it like it is your own.' That was what Ginter said. Every time Volo read maps and scripts while holding the egg close to his chest. He'd speak to it, carry it around in a sling over his chest and keep it company. He never expected to get this attached to it, but he supposed he was too far gone to pass them to someone else. When you came along, he was excited to see a new face. He had the tendency to jump out at you from seemingly anywhere. Busy making breakfast? He might just jump out of that storage chest in your quarters in Jubilife. You expected him to be some sort of secret squatter.
Today was the same as any other day so far. You had a light breakfast, had some pokéballs and money ready for the outing. All that was left, was to go on and explore. The Alabastar Islands were absolutely frigid today. It was extra windy it seemed, but nothing you couldn't handle. You took pride in dressing for the weather and it gave you a chance to wear that fuzzy jacket of yours you bought recently. You had your tent pitched up near the valley where you entered.. and who was already there and making himself at home? Volo. He might as well be a pokémon using that foresight move you saw from an Duskull. For now, Volo had dressed the egg in an almost identical mini coat and hat. He doted on them despite whatever the pokémon was not being born yet. He was prepared for anything to protect the egg. When it hatched.. Volo was floored. He was so happy to see that a Togepi was what was inside. He was so happy he could run up and down the temple of Sinnoh. When you walked to your tent in the evening, he was kneeling down with his Togepi. It was trying to take its first steps, but fell face first onto the ground. Volo smiled as he picked up the now-wailing Togepi. Aw. "Hey.. It's alright."
