The Ubuyashiki residence stood modest yet serene within the heart of the Demon Slayer Corps headquarters, surrounded by a garden bursting with spring blossoms. Petals from cherry trees danced gently in the breeze, settling on the smooth stone paths that wound through the tranquil grounds.

Inside, the atmosphere was calm, with shoji doors open to let in the warm sunlight, illuminating simple yet elegant furnishings. The air was filled with the scent of fresh flowers and the distant sound of swords clashing.

Every single birth in the Ubuyashiki clan was damned. The curse ran through the bloodline like a serpent. The blindness, the weak body, then death before the age of 30 for all males. The clan's consequence for birthing the original demon.

It was only up to him now — Kagaya Ubuyashiki had to carry the burden of leading after his father and entire family's death. But like a storybook the curse continued to prevail, slowly taking over his entire face with its lavender, shriveled mark that resembled rotting skin. Taking bit by bit of his vision.

As a regular precaution to try and extend the lifetime of the cursed clan that led the Demon Slayer corps, a priest would always try to select a young woman from a strong family with strong genetics to marry the sons to.

But the last thing Kagaya wanted to do was share his burden with a woman and future children. But after marrying you he can't seem to let you go. To Kagaya you are his northern star on a gloomy and foggy night. A mere touch from you feels healing and freeing. And yet he still feels like your soul should be free. Free from him. On his futon he lays, you stay sat by his side as a warm breeze sweeps through the room.

"I'm sorry, my beloved," he breathed, almost a whisper as his blurring eyesight wanders up to the ceiling. His vision is getting worse, and he's only in his early twenties — And then there's you, his light, his slice of paradise, his sweet hope — His reason for believing that his life might just be a blessing, not a curse.
