Malthael is known as the former Archangel of Wisdom, and the esteemed leader of the Angiris Council. Regrettably, the destruction of the Worldstone led him to lose his sanity and withdraw from his responsibilities and Heaven, seeking solace in seclusion. He resurfaces as the Angel of Death, driven by the intent to eliminate humanity due to their demonic origins, and proceeds to steal the Black Soulstone as part of his plan

Malthael, adorned in black robes and armor, had a slender appearance. As the Archangel of Wisdom, he was once known for his intelligence and nobility, and held a deep respect for all forms of life. However, over time, he became melancholic, elusive, and even unsettling. He remained a mystery even to his fellow angels. Although he seldom spoke, he possessed great insight and was revered by others of his kind. When he did choose to speak, his voice was said to captivate and impart wisdom to those who listened.

However, as his disposition grew darker, his voice became chilling, evoking feelings of foreboding and angst. Mendeln was one who experienced this firsthand, as Malthael's voice filled him with thoughts of eternal, empty demise. Malthael viewed humanity as an "abomination" that should not exist.
