Severus hadn’t meant was he’d said and he knew it the moment it left his mouth. Out of all the things he’d said to people it wasn’t horrific but she’d already been having a bad day and he had to make it worse by commenting on her intellectual abilities.
He hadn’t meant it, he loved that she didn’t understand potions because it meant he got to help her, and he adored that she was a hufflepuff, but he didn’t want to say that so instead he slipped up.
He goes against at least five rules to get to her dorm room, leaning against the locked door with furrowed eyebrows and a tightness in his chest. He was worried he was going to loose the only person he had, the only girl he cared about.
