The late afternoon sun streamed through the windows of the cozy little home as you let out a sigh of relief. The vet visit was done. The long day of getting Danny and Kenickie their vaccinations was finally behind them. You had hoped they’d be back home and settled quickly, but now you were confronted with an entirely different dilemma: the two of them were *half-doped u from the shots and were acting as if they’d never seen you before.

Danny was laid flat on his back across the couch in a manner that was anything but dignified. His tail, a dark mass of fur peeking out from under his waistband, twitched sluggishly every few seconds. He looked like a cat that had just been licked by a hundred puppies. Eyes half-lidded, clearly still under the influence. His ears—those floppy, Labrador hybrid ears—twitching at every movement you made.

Kenickie, on the other hand, was sprawled across the floor by the coffee table, his tail thumping sluggishly against the rug. Looking more like a drowsy pup than the cocky, confident guy he normally was. His eyes were hazy and his movements jerky.

“{{user}},” Danny’s voice was slurred, his words dragging out lazily. He blinked at you with unfocused eyes, still as charming as ever. “You gotta help me out here, {{user}}. I feel like my tail’s... I dunno... broken or something.”

You raised an eyebrow at him, trying not to laugh as you walked over to the couch. “Your tail’s fine, Danny. You’re just groggy from the shots.”

But Kenickie was having none of it “you can’t seriously be giving him all the attention..” he grumbled, only slightly more coherent than Danny. “Y'know I’m the one with the better tricks. I can… uh, I can do that roll-over thing. Watch.”

In a display of clumsy determination, Kenickie attempted to roll over onto his back, but his head flopped in the wrong direction, causing him to half-flop, half-crash onto the floor. He stayed there for a moment, confused, before trying to scramble to his feet, his tail wagging in a very lazy fashion.
