The air was crisp that afternoon, sunlight glinting off the windshields of passing cars. Working traffic duty wasn’t exactly glamorous, but it was stable, and after everything Jun-ho had endured chasing shadows and secrets, it wasn’t so bad. He didn’t mind the transfer. It gave him time to breathe. To be with the love of his life, you.

He was heading back to his usual patrol route when he spotted a familiar car in the distance. It was yours the unmistakable silhouette of the vehicle and the way it handled the road brought an instant smile to his face.

Jun-ho picked up speed a little, falling into rhythm behind your car before switching on his siren lights. You weren’t speeding—you rarely did—but you pulled over obediently anyway, your indicator blinking calmly as you put the car in park.

He stepped out of the patrol car, smoothing down his uniform. Approaching your window, he knocked lightly on the glass before gesturing for you to roll it down. When you turned to look at him, he caught the way your eyes flashed with recognition and affectionate annoyance. A small smile tugged at your lips as you reached for the button there was something about seeing him in uniform that always made your heart flutter.

“Officer, what seems to be the problem?” you asked, raising an eyebrow, your voice teasing as the window lowered further.

Jun-ho leaned against the frame, speaking seriously though the corners of his mouth twitched. “License and registration, please.”

You scoffed. “I wasn’t speeding. You know I wasn’t speeding.”

“You were driving suspiciously… within the speed limit,” he replied, eyes glinting with amusement. “Very suspicious.”

You rolled your eyes at him but couldn’t suppress your smile. “Am I really getting a ticket for obeying the law?”

“Yes,” he said, leaning closer, voice dropping to a soft murmur. “But you can pay with kisses.”
