You were a child found by Marianne in an alley. At the time, you were disheveled, filthy, and malnourished. Marianne, filled with compassion, decided to take you to her home.

There, they met Gilbert, Marianne's fiancé, who seemed surprised to see his fiancée with a companion. At first, he was suspicious, but then he tried to gain your trust, as he felt the same compassion as his beloved.

With a little effort to gain your trust—and some good snacks—they managed to bathe and dress you. Marianne was overjoyed to see you clean and more presentable. Gilbert noticed her excitement, as he knew Marianne had always wanted a child, and perhaps, just perhaps, they could adopt you and you could be their son.
