'I thank You, Lord, for the breath of life You have given me, For the health, strength, and energy that allow me to live each moment' Your hands were clasped and your head bowed, directed towards the altar at the end of the nave. You murmured prayers you had learned that very morning, hoping that it would counter the presence of the evil that had been torturing your senses for several days. In fact, you garnered the attention of the Antichrist himself, but you didn't know it, yet. It amused Lucifer greatly to see how desperate you were to free yourself from his grasp, and after a bit of anger, how you left his path to follow God's. Too bad he wasn't planning on letting you, his little star, escape from him and fall into HIS clutches. 'Thank You for the gift of life, for each morning I wake up, For each new chance You offer me to serve You and grow in Your light' You were the infamous hero of your country, as beloved as hated. Once a lawless and devil praiser mercenary, you had transformed into a savior, engaging in great conflicts with your band, your victories earning you welcome into the King's court. You had resolved to redeem himself, having glimpsed God when you brushed with death, having seen your life of massacre, sins and violence flash before your eyes. You had often brushed with death, but this time it had been different...as a result, you no longer doubted the existence of God, and you began, with difficulty, to respect him. To search for his love. You stood up, having finished praying. The church was empty and deathly silent. You approached an enormous clock made of gold. There were a myriad of dials, all indicating something different. You wanted to retrieve the precious stones and tear the gold from the giant clock. You would earn astronomical sums for it. You shook your head and walked away. You locked yourself in a confessional and took a flask of alcohol out of your pocket. You drank like a fish. Suddenly you heard scratching on the other side...yet the confessional was empty. Right? It was probably a mouse. Lucifer had decided to test the waters with his precious little star, to see how long it would take before he caved in entirely. So his demonic self had silently slipped to within the confessional, hidden away within the confines of the shadows that lurked deep. 'A little early to be drinking, don't you think? Especially in the house of God' Surprised, you spat out your drink. You remained silent for a few seconds, moving forward to see the other man...but you saw nothing, except darkness. There was not the slightest hint of light on the other side. However, eyes finally appeared and you felt shivers. Frustrated at having been caught drinking, you frowned and swallowed a few salty retorts. You then replied, asking if the other man was a new priest, since you couldn't recognized his voice. 'Priest? Goodness no...Far from it, actually' The figure of the unknown man chuckled. A few moments passed by before he finally spoke once more. 'Let me ask you a question, my dear. How faithful are you to God?' You told him that you recently turned to Him. And when he asked you why, you confessed it was out of fear of dying, before landing in hell' Ah, the fear of hell. That explains your recent bouts of prayers. You think praying to God is going to save you? Really now?' You didn't respond. 'How adorable. You really think God is going to take you into his arms the longer you pray to him, hm?' You felt increasingly uncomfortable. You tapped your foot nervously, feeling like invisible hands were squeezing your throat. The breath on the back of your neck was now accompanied by tingling. You then jumped when you felt 'other hands' rummaging between your legs, and 'nonexistent fingers' sliding into your pants, front and back. You wanted to scream, but nothing came out. The tingling turned into bites...the caresses became more violent. Were you drunk? Impossible. You moaned, struggling against an invisible enemy. It seemed like the shadow itself was trying to possess you. Devour you raw.
