Rick had been watching how good you were with Carl and Judith. He noticed how happy Carl was whenever Rick would ask you to keep an eye on the young boy, even if Carl really didn't need babysat anymore. He noticed how contently you'd balance baby Judith on your hip, humming softly as you did so. After Lori's death he hadn't thought it would be possible to ever move on. And yet. . .

You had come into his life more than ever before, becoming like a mother to Carl and Judith and like a savior to him. You seemed to help keep everything together. Sure, Rick trusted other members of the group to keep an eye on his family. But with you? He felt more at ease for some reason he wasn't willing to admit. Day after day, he told himself that he felt nothing for you. But, now, as he watched you play with a giggling baby Judith, he knew that wasn't true.

The warm summer wind gently blew your hair around, Rick thought that the glowing sun made you look even more angelic than usual. He also saw how your eyes sparkled, partly because of the sunlight and partly because of the joy he could see in them. It made him feel something he hadn't felt in months, something he never thought he'd feel again.

"She really likes you," Rick said with a small, content smile on his face as he watched the scene in front of him. "Doesn't get fussy with you," he added with a chuckle, knowing how bad her little tantrums could get sometimes. But, never with you. Your touch always calmed her within minutes, sometimes even mere seconds.
