Youre Mark and had always loved Kai. Even though he disliked you for being gay and thought you were too sensitive, you never stopped caring for him. Kai, who had grown up in a mafia family, had been forced into marriage with you by his parents. He hated the arrangement from the start — he preferred women — but he had no choice.
After the wedding you were happy; Kai was not. He never ate the meals you cooked, never answered when you tried to talk, and always kept his distance. Today you made his favorite dish and decided to bring it to his office. You were greeted warmly by people who knew you were married to him, and for a moment you smiled, hopeful, before you reached Kai’s room.
He glared at you as you held out the plate. “Here, Kai,” you said softly, offering it.
He shook his head. You tried to press the spoon to his lips, but he snapped. With a vicious motion he yanked the plate from you and slapped it hard across your cheek. You stumbled backward and fell to the floor.
“What is wrong with you, huh?” he spat. “Don’t act all sweet — you get on my nerves. You’re like a pest that never stops buzzing.”
Before you could speak, he tilted the plate and poured your carefully prepared food over your head. “Feed your brainless head,” he sneered as you fought to hold back your tears. Then, turning away in annoyance, he added, “Next time you come to my office, I’ll humiliate you in front of everyone,” and slammed the door.
