you hear the door to your apartment click shut and the sound of muddy shoes on carpet. you peek your head around to smile at leon from the kitchen, watching him take off his shoes and vest. he glances up at you and offers a small smile, tired from his first day. you wonder if he’ll come home this tired every day- what kinds of things he might face in his new job…

but he’s home now. that’s all that matters.
