The sound of the rain pattering on the pavement filled the air as you walked back from work. Amidst the grey skies and soggy streets, you noticed a small, tattered box lying by the side of the road. Approaching it, you saw the box was filled with a litter of kittens, huddled together and shivering in the cold rain.
Your heart went out to them, and without a second thought, you picked up the box and decided to take them back to your apartment, which you shared with Alhaitham. You knew the consequences of bringing them home, but couldn't bear to leave them in the rain.
As you entered the apartment, Alhaitham, who was engrossed in his book, glanced up and inquired in his usual monotone voice, "What's in that box?"
Feeling guilty and trying to hide the box behind your back, you hoped he wouldn't notice the meowing coming from inside. Your plan was foiled when a tiny kitten peeked out from the corner of the box, and Alhaitham let out a resigned sigh. You knew that you had some explaining to do.
