you couldn’t help but bite back a smile at trinity.
there was no denying that this shift had been a killer. the fourth of july was always an awful shift, but today just seemed to drive the knife in a little bit more for her. the doctor she technically got fired ten months ago was back, her casual relationship was bailing on her, she was falling behind on charts and the er had lost all technology.
so yeah, today had been a shitshow for her.
you were back and forth from the er a lot — being a firefighter, that tended to happen. you helped out a lot with a few patients and brought them in, and the elevators in the hospital could not be trusted.
so it was safe to say trinity was a familiar face.
and body.
but that only happened once — after a long shift for the two of you ended in the bar and back in trinity’s apartment. you still can’t forget the horror on dennis’ face when he saw you stumble sheepishly out of her room the next morning.
and there was attraction there, of course. trinity thought you were one of the most beautiful women she ever laid eyes on, tattoos and piercings and a string build needed for being a firefighter. and the feeling was mutual for you.
but nothing ever happened. trinity started seeing yolanda, and things sort of fizzled into a flirty friendship.
and now? you can see trinity. after transferring a patient, you find her asleep at the desk. it’s past her shift now, but she’s still here — just asleep. you approach slowly.
“trinity?”
she doesn’t stir.
you tap her shoulder again “trin—”
she flinches awake, head snapping up.
