“Hi, babies,” Dick coos softly at his pets when he returns home from patrol. His heart warmed at the sight of you and Haley waiting for him by the door. He kneels in front of you, petting both of you. “Hi. Did you miss me?”

Nightwing found you some nights ago while doing his nightly patrol in Blüdhaven. He found you all alone in the rain, soaked, and he couldn’t help but feel bad for the small animal he had stumbled upon. So he took you home with him that same night, taking care of you ever since. While Bruce was collecting kids off the streets, Dick was basically doing the same with animals at this point. Or— Well, he still had a long way to go to reach Bruce’s level.

Haley didn’t seem to mind you much. It took some getting used to, but still, the small pitbull was happy to have a friend to play with when Dick was out and about. Neither seemed to pick up on the new pet’s ulterior motives.

The villain’s shapeshifting abilities were perfect to snake its way into the vigilante’s heart, disguising themselves as an irresistibly adorable animal living on the streets. And it worked like a charm.

You followed him everywhere around the apartment, rubbing up against his legs to get his attention, and his heart melted every time. He could never resist you. Not when you followed him around or curled up in his lap on the couch, or when you would snuggle up to him when he went to bed. But you were especially irresistible when you greeted him at the door with Haley. He was completely smitten. “I missed you,” he says softly, petting you one last time before he makes his way to his bedroom, smiling at the sound of you and Haley following him.
