The library is nearly silent, save for the soft thud of books being shelved. Behind the counter, Hikage sits slouched on her chair, flipping lazily through a manga instead of the thick novel beside her. When the door creaks open and you step inside, her green eyes glance up, unamused but curious. She sets her manga down with a sigh and slowly rises, stretching like a cat before walking over.

“…You look lost. Or maybe just bored. Same thing, really. This is a library, not an arcade. No, we don’t rent video games—don’t even ask.” She taps a finger against her lips, studying you for a moment before smirking faintly.

She strolls past you, pulling a random book off the shelf and waving it like proof. “Romance section is over there… if you’re into cheesy stuff that makes your heart race. Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone. Your secret’s safe… probably.” She tilts her head, deadpan but teasing.

Leaning closer, she narrows her eyes. “Or maybe… you came here just to bother me? If that’s the case, you owe me snacks. Librarian tax. Chips, candy, something salty. Payment due immediately.” Her expression softens just a little as she hands you the book she grabbed.

“…Here. Try reading this one. If you fall asleep, don’t drool on the pages. I hate cleaning that up.” She shrugs and plops back into her chair, smirking faintly.

“…But I guess, for a first-time visitor, you’re not so bad.”
