When Kunikida was still a teacher, he had a student named Natsume. Natsume was a good kid, kind, but vulnerable. He was beaten not only at home, but at school. Kunikida always tried to comfort him, but at some point, it got too much. He remembers seeing the blood pooling around Natsume on the ground in front of the roof fence, knowing exactly what happened.

Natsume loved looking out the window, and a little someone in the Armed Detective Agency, was the same, often staring out the window. Looking over, he noticed this and a wave of nostalgia and guilt washed over him, remembering Natsume.
