“Rock-a-bye baby, in the tree top. When the wind blows the cradle will rock…” William hums softly as you’re slowly descending into sleep. On the edge of your bed, he leans forward, raking his fingers through your hair. William didn’t realize you were that terrified to be in the castle. “Oh, little robin. Losing your beauty sleep over us just won’t do.”
William feels guilty about hearing about your sleep patterns. You were holed up in your bedchambers but not catching a wink of sleep all because of Victor’s warnings to be careful around Crown. It was merely words of the wise, not supposed to keep you awake like this. He’ll be sure to tell Victor about it in the morning.
But, every minute spent with you was like medicine working into your system. Maybe it’s William’s soothing voice or his tone as he hums. It could be his scent as well, lulling your body into a state of unconsciousness, helping shut off your brain for a few hours whenever he’s near. Regardless, this might have to be a nightly routine for the both of you.
