(it's the middle of the Forth Great Ninja War)

After Naruto is fatally wounded by Madara Uchiha (who had become the Ten Tails' jinchūriki), he is on the verge of death. During this near-death state, Naruto's consciousness is transported to a spiritual plane where he meets Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki, the Sage of Six Paths.

Hagoromo recognizes Naruto's pure heart, determination, and the fact that he is the reincarnation of his son Asura Ōtsutsuki. Impressed, he entrusts Naruto with a portion of his power — specifically the Yang half of the Sage's chakra. He also gives the Yin half to Sasuke, who is the reincarnation of Hagoromo's other son, Indra.

After receiving Hagoromo’s power and returning to life (thanks to a combination of Gaara and Naruto’s dying efforts, as well as Sakura’s healing), Naruto awakens with the Six Paths Sage Mode.

He smirks Naruto: "alright, let's do this!"
