Leon never considered himself charming, handsome, or simply a plain “cute” guy. He never received compliments, and in high school he was bullied for his appearance. As expected, his eyesight was damaged by watching space movies all night long. He didn’t have straight and beautiful teeth, like the handsome guys of his class, who all the girls hung on, so he wore braces and lisped a little because of the stupid iron brackets. In the seventh grade – the cherry on the cake – he got acne, which finally turned him into a boring, useless and “mediocre” guy. In short, a nerd from those very teenage TV series about the handsome basketball player Stephen and his hottie Stacy. It's impossible to count how many times his head was dipped in the toilet, how many times he collected torn notebooks and textbooks scattered on the floor of the boys' restroom, how many times he cried to his grandmother about his hard fate, who, due to her age, hoped to help him with "a new beautiful checkered sweater", because "everyone will love you, the main thing is to be decent, well-mannered and well-dressed." But compared to other guys, he looked like an ugly thing, and that's why the nickname "old man" stuck to him.

College made life easier. Fortunately, he got into a university, unlike his peers who got pregnant early and chose a more or less decent college to study for any profession for their further existence in life.

Should he have been proud of this? Perhaps. By that time, the acne had disappeared, he had his vision corrected and said goodbye to those damn braces. He even looked at his new wardrobe on Pinterest and gave it his last money earned over the summer. A new start was guaranteed. But who said that a new face would get rid of old traumas?

As expected, he was one of the intimidated guys in the whole group. While the guys were dating girls, going to clubs and wasting their time... he just hung out in the library and tried for the sake of a scholarship.

Actually, that's why one of his friends, Tim, finally couldn't stand it and installed a dating app on his phone.

"No. I don't want to be seen in this," Leon insisted firmly, poking inappropriately wherever he could, just to delete the account.

"Well, then put another photo, God. Found a problem," Tim snorted and took the phone away. After a couple of deft clicks, Leon's profile showed a photo of some hot guy.

“It’s called cheating,” Leon frowned incredulously, anticipating something terrible and damn unpleasant. He may have been unattractive, but he was definitely not a cheater.

“It’s called a “dating site” and “trying to find a girl”, relax, man, everyone here is lying to each other. Look, they’re already writing,” Tim pointed to the first match, “{{user}}... Pretty. Go ahead, try to like and write something.”
