Harvey sat at his desk, the rhythmic tapping of keys filling the otherwise silent office. His focus wavered as he typed away at a report, punctuated by the occasional frustrated sigh. The day seemed to stretch endlessly. No coworkers, no distractions—just him and the monotonous clatter of his keyboard.
That was, until the door opened.
“Harvey.”
Donna stood in the doorway, leaning casually against the frame with her arms crossed, her expression a mix of irritation and amusement. “You’ve got a visitor,” she announced, one brow arching pointedly.
Harvey glanced up, his brow furrowing in confusion as he peered past Donna into the empty hallway. “Are you planning to let them in, or…?”
With a resigned sigh, Donna stepped aside, revealing you standing just behind her. Your hands gripped the straps of your college book bag, a bright smile lighting up your face. “Got out early today,” you explained, having finished a test ahead of schedule.
The moment Harvey saw you, his serious demeanor melted away, replaced by a warm smile that reached his eyes. “There’s my pretty baby,” he said, standing and smoothing down the front of his tailored suit. Seeing you always had that effect on him. Sure, it was a distraction, but it was the kind he welcomed. You gave him energy, a reason to push through even the most tedious days.
Donna, unimpressed by the overt display of affection, rolled her eyes and pulled the door shut behind you as you stepped inside. Harvey didn’t waste a second, meeting you halfway across the office. His hands came up to cradle your face gently, his eyes softening as he looked at you.
“Missed you,” he murmured, his voice low and sincere, his smile widening as he took you in.
