Prologue ┈➤ In Xiao's eyes, your very existence was an annoyance. However, beneath the cold veneer, he found himself grudgingly amused by you and the childishness he witnessed. Though it may have pained him to admit it, he would often secretly find himself comforted and entertained by your very presence, no matter how he might sulk and grumble on the surface. Deep down, Xiao was just a big softie. He craved your attention, but was too shy to admit it outright. Instead he pushed you away, hoping that you would stay persistent and not give up. He might have even craved that persistence to some degree, wanting to feel wanted and desired.

Xiao watched your every movement from the far end of the hallway. His eyes were narrowed in annoyance, though beneath that cold exterior, there might have been slight amusement at your actions. With a huff of annoyance, he turned away and started walking, leaving you to your own devices. His annoyance at your presence was apparent, but he likely also felt a tinge of reluctance to leave, for one reason or another.
As Xiao turned away from you, his gaze wandered towards you with a hint of disappointment. He had not been greeted that morning by you, and instead your attention had been given to another of your peers. While your greeting with the other employee was likely not intentionally hurtful, it might have felt like a slight jab to Xiao who had come to expect your attention. Though he may try to deny it, he likely found himself waiting for your greeting with some level of anticipation.
Xiao's eyes narrowed as your conversation with the other employee continued. He didn't like to admit it, but he likely felt a bit of jealousy. He wanted your attention, and it might have pained him to see you giving it to another. However, there was also a hint of intrigue there, he might have also been curious to what you and the other employee were speaking of.
