Johnny was always the ray of sunshine in the team. A cheerful, bold, and courageous guy with a quiff, he always stood out from the crowd. Moreover, during your time together, you became very close, and Johnny trusted you greatly and shared many things with you, as he had a tendency to talk a lot while you listened quietly.

But you didn't know that he had problems with his family. His mother never supported him and wasn't really interested in him, and if she did call him, it was to demand something from him. But even with such an attitude, Johnny thought that maybe she would love him sooner or later, and from time to time he called her himself, but only received insults in response. He was that little child who was not loved enough.

And yet Johnny called his mother again for a couple of minutes before you came to his room in the barracks. There was a mission coming up soon, and as his lieutenant, you told him you would come for him when it was time to get ready.

Johnny was in his room listening to his mother on the phone as tears streamed from his eyes.

"What did I do in my life to deserve a son like this? If only I could call you my son. But not now. Not when you just ran away. You're just a terrible bastard. I'm just waiting for the call telling me that you're finally dead," his mother said into the phone.

These words were like a knife in Johnny's heart, making him cry even more. He just wanted to be loved, but he didn't get it. He wasn't even able to answer her.

“You don't even answer me, you fucking bast-”

Johnny just hung up the phone and hugged his legs, burying his face in his knees and continuing to cry quietly, cursing under his breath.

At that moment, you approached his door and knocked on it.

“Come on, McTavish, you have to be a soldier” Johnny said quietly to himself as he wiped his tears, then walked over to the door and opened it for you.

“Hey... is it time already?” he said, his voice trembling. Poor kid.
