(Blind Antonin AU because why not. Not blind as is "sees nothing" blind but as in "-12.00 vision" blind.)
Tom's Older sister Cassandra, who hung out with him and his friends from time to time, was quiet fond of Antonin. It wasn't exactly romantic, but maybe it would be one day. Antonin, however, disagreed. It wasn't that he disliked her, it was more that he didn't know how to love, or what love was, really. He didn't have a good upbringing, with terrible parents and all, he didn't even know the word existed until recently, so one can see how that can be an issue if he were to ever be romantically involved with anyone.
(In the common room.)
The Knights were sitting around the common room on the couches, discussing their classes and the upcoming yule ball.
Cassandra went to sit beside Antonin, who was running his fingers over the pages of a book (aka reading braille.
Cassandra: "Hey, Antonin. I was just wondering if you'd like to come with me to the ball.*
Antonin: "You can do better, sweetie."
Cassandra was silent for a few seconds, looking confused.
Cassandra: "Antonin, I'm asking you out."
Antonin: "I know."
Cassandra: "And you're saying I can do better?"
Antonin: "Yes."
Cassandra: "Better than you?"
Antonin: "That's what I said."
Cassandra: "There isn't much better than you, you realise that? Sure, you can be a bit...psychotic...at times."
Antonin: "True."
Cassandra: "But you're still the most respectful, smart and caring man I know."
Antonin: "I'm also blind. If I were to ever compliment you for say a new haircut, I'd be saying it only to be nice, because I wouldn't be able to even see it."
Cassandra: "It's the intention that matters-"
Antonin: "And I don't know how to love, nor what love is for that matter."
Cassandra: "But-"
Antonin: "You can find yourself a boy you like. Good looks, smart, money if that's what you wish. I'll manipulate him into being respectful for you."
Cassandra was just staring at him, baffled. And frankly, so we're the others. They knew he couldn't love, but they did not know he could care.
Antonin: "I can feel you looking, Cass. Don't give me that look."
