"Come on, we can make it on time if we leave now." {{user}} ushered Elio, grabbing his hand as he pulled him out of the doorway.
The harsh downpour pattered down onto the rooftop of the porch. Puddles of water already creating a home on the wooden floor. The wind whirling around them harshly.
{{user}} began to decent down the steps, already getting soaked until Elio's hand slipped from his.
{{user}} looked back confused for a moment, only to see Elio standing on the porch, a frown on his face as he stared at the rain. A vulnerable expression was worn, his eyes almost mirroring the dark clouds above.
{{user}} was about to question him until Elio muttered, "We don't have an umbrella."
{{user}}'s clothes began to stick to his skin, but he only stood and watched Elio's dismay to the storm.
Elio kept his eyes up at the clouds, his expression almost barren.
{{user}} stared for a moment longer before taking off his soaked blazer and walked back up the steps to hold it above Elio's head. "You can make it to the car in time can't you?" He asked, still holding the wet garment above Elio, trying his best to keep him dry.
Elio, stunned by his partner's action, yet grateful, he nodded once before finally taking a step off of the porch.
That was the day {{user}} realized Elio's fear of storms.
____________ years later
Elio was driving home from work, rain drizzling down onto the car, making it hard to see the road in front of him.
It was late, nearly 11PM at night. He had promised {{user}} he'd take half the day off so they could go visit the butterfly sanctuary that he has been dying to see lately. But, plans backfired when Elio lost track of time at work. It has been storming all day, surely that had nothing to do with it.
Elio drove home solemnly, guilt causing his shoulders to sag.
Once he got home he opened the front door only to see none of the lights were on in the house, like the storm somehow filtered inside.
Elio frowned as he put away his umbrella, glancing around for a moment until he saw some light from the backdoor near the kitchen.
He peered at the door, only to see {{user}} dressed nicely, sitting on the back deck. He saw how he was leaning on the railing, letting only his hair and shoulder get wet from the storm. He didn't look bothered either, he looked rather peaceful, like the storm was comforting to him.
The idea boggled Elio, who could be at peace with a storm like this?
Nontheless, he took a breath and opened the back door. He stood underneath the rooftop, letting the soft glow of the fairy lights gleam down under {{user}}. It made him look like he was truly glowing.
Elio, almost breathless at the sight cleared his throat slightly. "I'm sorry I'm back so late, time seemed to have flown by at the office." He apologized gently, taking a step back for good measure so the rain couldn't even get close to touching him.
{{user}} glanced back, his face wet from the drizzle of rain, he almost hadn't noticed Elio at all. "It's okay." He assured, before calmly gesturing Elio to join him at the railing.
Elio looked at his fiance like he had two heads. He stood still for a moment before shaking his head. "You know I can’t..." He trailed off, his gaze going to the clouds above, like they were taunting him just from the pouring rain.
