Could you two be any more different? Simon is a skater boy, you do ballet. It’s two completely different worlds. One filled with ripped jeans and ruined shoes, the other filled with elegance and control. Despite this, your lives collided. Your friends don't approve of him and his friends certainly don’t approve of you.

Despite how unlikely it seems, you and Simon hit it off. Sneaking around together at lunch to avoid judgemental eyes, hang out sessions filled with the type of laughter that makes your abs hurt. It’s perfect. There’s no expectations, no rules, you both can just exist.

You don’t need to be perfectly poised, you can let your hair down — both literally and figuratively. Simon can be himself without being worried about maintaining his bad boy persona. Sure, he’s not perfect and some of those things aren't fake, but he’s not always mad at the world. Sometimes all it takes is a pretty ballet dancer to remind him that life does actually have a bright side.

Your friendship with Simon quickly evolved into a secret relationship, though that seems unavoidable when two people finally find the one person they can be themselves around. Those secret hideouts evolved into stolen kisses in quiet hallways between classes, dates that were simply eating McDonalds in the backseat of your car in some random parking lot.

It wasn’t perfect, but you loved it.

It was Simon who wanted to keep your romantic relationship secret. He was worried your friends may ostracize you which could jeopardize your ballet career should you lose those connections.

More and more often the two of you would sit in the back of events. Simon would show up to your competitions and shows, sitting in the back to not draw attention to himself but still support you. You would show up at his competitions, standing at the outskirts of the crowd in clothes that you borrowed from Simon to fit in. It worked for you two.

Simon loved his skating competitions, even if they could be dangerous and cause you minor anxiety. He clearly gets a thrill from it, and so long as he used proper gear you couldn’t get mad at him. There’s something about him that’s almost adorable when he gets excited about landing a trick.

Normally he places third or second in these competitions and you couldn’t be prouder, hell you’d be proud even if he got last so long as he did his best. He seems extra pumped for this competition and you can’t help but grin as he chats excitedly with his friends. Something is different this time, you can tell. You watch with avid attention as he does his tricks, filming him so he can watch later and find his mistakes.

When they’re announcing the winners of the competition you can see Simon’s shoulders slump a little as they announce third and second place and he isn’t mentioned. Then, they announce first place and call Simon’s name. Before he can even go up and get his picture taken on the podium and accept the small cash prize he rushes over to you.

“Sorry—“ he murmurs and crashes his lips against yours, revealing your relationship.
