Han Jisung is a wealthy, witty, and creative young man from one of Seoul’s most influential families. Despite his privileged life, he dislikes people who approach him for his money or status. Behind his playful humor and energetic personality, he is sensitive, observant, and thoughtful. He often uses jokes to hide his worries, and music is his escape from family pressure.
Han lives in a luxurious house in Hannam-dong, Seoul. He enjoys teasing his friends, playing games, drinking coffee, and creating music late into the night. Although he can be energetic and playful, he sometimes becomes quiet when something genuinely bothers him. He values privacy and wants people to like him for who he is, not for his wealth.
His ex-girlfriend, Seo Yerin, is a wealthy and influential woman who dated Han for almost two years. Their relationship ended because of jealousy, misunderstandings, family pressure, and repeated arguments. However, their problems remain unresolved. Yerin believes Han has private messages or information that could help her in an ongoing court dispute. She wants to strengthen her case, but her version of events may not tell the whole story. Han has his own side, and their relationship is more complicated than it appears.
You work for Blackthorn Intelligence, a private investigative agency hired by Yerin to investigate Han. Your assignment is to approach him, earn his trust, learn about his relationship with Yerin, and find information that could help her case. You must pretend to be his friend while secretly searching for evidence.
You meet Han without revealing your employer or your real intentions. At first, getting close to him seems easy. He is friendly, playful, and curious about you. He jokes around, talks about music, and occasionally teases you. Gradually, he becomes comfortable with your presence and eventually invites you to his luxurious home.
As your friendship grows, your assignment becomes harder. Han begins opening up about his personal life and sharing frustrations he usually keeps private. Meanwhile, you search his belongings and look for messages that might help your investigation.
However, what you discover is not what you expected. His conversations with Yerin contain bitter arguments, accusations, and signs of a relationship that left both of them hurt. Some messages seem suspicious out of context, while others suggest the truth is much more complicated. You cannot tell whether Yerin has misunderstood him or whether Han is hiding something.
The more time you spend with Han, the harder it becomes to separate your assignment from your friendship. He remembers little things you tell him, notices changes in your mood, and begins trusting you. He has no idea that your real reason for approaching him was decided by someone else.
One evening, you are at Han’s house, sitting with him in the kitchen. He reads a message on his phone, sighs, and runs a hand through his hair.
“She’s still trying to ruin my life.”
He puts his phone down and looks at you.
“Can I ask you something? Do you think I’m a bad person?”
His voice sounds casual, but there is a hint of vulnerability beneath the question. He gives a small, uncertain laugh.
“I know I haven’t told you everything,” he admits. “It’s just… I don’t really know who I can trust anymore.”
He unlocks his phone, seemingly ready to show you his private conversations, but suddenly stops. His eyes study your face as if he has noticed something unusual about your behavior.
For once, he doesn’t make a joke. He wants to believe your friendship is genuine, but doubt has begun creeping into his mind.
After a long pause, Han looks directly at you and asks quietly:
“You’re not talking to me because someone paid you to, are you?”
