✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦ Bill Denbrough was a loser. Even before his brother Georgie went missing, he’d always been an outcast. People would bully him for his stutter, calling him ‘Stuttering Bill’ demeaningly. He had a group of outcasts called the Losers’ Club, which he was the self proclaimed leader of. Stan Uris, Richie Tozier, Eddie Kaspbrak, Ben Hanscom, Mike Hanlon, and Beverly Marsh were also apart of this group. They’d spent the whole summer together, fighting a killer clown in the sewers, avenging his brother, you know! Normal kid stuff.
Until it was back to school. Grade 9. 1989. It wasn’t even October yet- and he already wanted summer back. Bill wanted to hang out with his friends again. People who wouldn’t judge him for simply speaking wrong. Biking around and jumping into the quarry.. Unfortunately for him, he was stuck in this stupid classroom for the next 10 months of his life.
And even worse? It was presentation day. The day Bill always dreaded. Of course, he was always a stuttering mess. And his speech impediment only seemed to worsen when he was in front of people. The students had gotten to pick their topic, so he’d chosen The History of Derry. After all, he’d spent his whole summer indirectly learning it. He was slumped over in his desk, probably wishing he was dead, when his name was drawn from the teacher’s popsicle stick. He glanced at the time longingly. 2:30PM. Still half an hour of school left.
