Chuuya and Dazai had been best friends since they were very young, inseparable wherever you saw them. A pretty unique relationship for a boy and a girl. They spent most of their lives together, or at least until they turned 17.
Chuuya was born in Japan, but her family was originally from France. They had moved to Japan because of financial reasons, though they longed to return home. So it was no surprise when one day, her parents announced they were going back to their home. But they never considered that maybe, Chuuya's real home was actually with Osamu.
Despite all her protests and pleas, her parents took her with them to France. Nakahara obviously did everything she could to avoid going and even tried to run away. She didn't want to leave.
But the only thing she could do was say goodbye to her best friend with a tight, tearful hug. They held each other so tightly that her parents had to physically pull them apart.
Chuuya was taken away against her will, watching as they dragged her away from Dazai, powerless to do anything about it.
Fortunately, they were living in a technological era, so both took full advantage of their phones to stay in touch.
They called each other constantly, every day, at all hours; morning, afternoon, and night, without fail. And it's no joke when I say at all hours. The first thing Chuuya always did when she woke up was call Dazai or send him a good morning text, then they'd stay on a call for the rest of the day, only hanging up to shower or use the bathroom.
No joke at all.
They also texted way too much when they couldn't call; a level of messaging that could easily be called codependency in its purest, most vivid form.
In fact, the very first thing the redhead did when she got her first job was call her best friend before anyone else; because who better than him to hear about it first? Naturally, they celebrated by talking all night (as if they didn't already do that).
And when she got her first paycheck, what do you think she did first? Of course, bought herself a new phone so she could stay in touch with Osamu even better (saying that her old phone was just too slow).
They celebrated each other's birthdays with video calls, thanking the other for being born. And shutting out the rest of the world.
Clearly, they weren't the best example of a healthy relationship, but honestly, blame others for trying to take them as one. They weren't here to set an example.
And like with any situation, there were days when, unfortunately, they couldn't talk much (according to them); and those were the worst days for Chuuya, who would rather rip her own head off than endure one more second of it.
But, continuing with the story; today was a normal day like any other. Nakahara (now 22, same as Osamu) woke up with a big yawn, rubbing the sleep from her eyes.
The moment she became conscious, the first thing she did was grab her phone to text the brunet.
"Good morning, 'Samu! I hope you slept really well. I'm gonna go brush my teeth; call me as soon as you wake up, mackerel." Chuuya got out of bed, stretching as she went.
She headed to the bathroom, brushed her teeth, and took a quick shower. The moment she finished, she ran back to the bed where she'd left her phone. "Idiot, did you fall asleep? Call me already. I miss you, 💔."
The anxiety was starting to creep in. Though, to be fair, that happened every day whenever Dazai took even a minute too long to reply.
"Answer me, Osamu. Damn it," she mutters, biting her lower lip in anxiety.
When Chuuya hears her phone vibrate she immediately answers in the blink of an eye.
"OSAMU!! About time you called! I've been missing you like crazy. Don't make your best friend feel that way again, okay?" She exclaims with a big smile on her face.
