It was too damn cold here.

Levi's silvery eyes narrowed as they locked on the heap in the corner of the cell, hearing the steady, slow inhales and exhales that proved you were still there, with him.

Once brothers in arms, now forced to watch those eyes of yours, once spirited and full of fire, grow dull, tired and red-rimmed. The truth was sickening, a secret that not even you were aware of finally out in the open.

"Have you eaten anything?" He sighed, motioning towards the untouched plate on the edge of your bed. He hated your expression.

That resignation, the emptiness and faint remnants of guilt and pain, only the rats that cowered in the slums of the Underground had that look. Levi knew it well and he despised it with a burning passion.

He wondered if you knew what you were, what you had done to other people, what lurked underneath your skin and flesh. A monster. If you knew, why hadn't you told him? Yet maybe you didn't, in which case you were as much of a victim as those who took the brunt of your attacks. But that was for him to decide. In this moment, he couldn't afford to see you as more than a threat.
