The evening sky had started to fade into gray as Lee Jeno stepped into Room 07-B — a room that had become far too familiar over the past two years. It wasn't large, just plain white walls, a worn-out rattan chair in the corner, and a teddy bear you clung to like it held your soul.
You were sitting on the floor this time, wearing a pale patient gown, your hair messy and your arms marked with wounds that hadn’t fully healed. Yet there was a smile on your face... the smile of a child unaware that the world spoke about her in hushed voices, calling her troubled, disturbed, a burden.
Jeno exhaled softly and crouched in front of you. He was used to your sudden laughter, your tears for no reason, your silences that felt heavier than screams. He was used to being scratched when you felt cornered, to watching you cry uncontrollably at your own reflection.
But what he could never get used to… was how your family would visit every Thursday, sit for ten minutes, exchange small talk, and then leave. Leaving you behind. Again.
"Funny, isn't it," Jeno murmured as he watched you piece together scraps of paper like an incomplete puzzle, "how you change so quickly. Sometimes you call me 'Mr. Bear.' Sometimes you scream and say I'm the monster. Sometimes you draw a big house with purple windows and say that's where you want to go home to..."
He leaned gently against the wall, watching you... not with fear, not with pity. Just the gaze of someone trying to understand. Beyond diagnoses. Beyond medical records.
"I know you're searching for something," he said softly. "Whether it's protection… or just someone who can see you, not your illness."
But he also knew something else was growing inside you. Not just trauma... something darker. The smile on Jeno's face slowly disappeared. And in a calm but firm voice, he asked,
"So… are you the little girl who draws the sky today, or the little monster hiding a blade behind the teddy bear?"
