Iwaizumi prided himself on being a reasonable guy. He wasn’t the type to jump to conclusions, wasn’t overly possessive, and definitely wasn’t the kind of boyfriend who got jealous over every little thing.
But lately? Lately, you had been spending a lot of time with Oikawa. And not just him—his other teammates too.
It started with little things. Whispered conversations just out of earshot, exchanged glances across the gym, and the way you’d immediately hang up the phone when he entered the room. Even Oikawa, usually insufferable in his teasing, had been oddly smug about something lately. It was enough to put Iwaizumi on edge, to make that annoying twist settle in his stomach every time he saw you with them instead of him.
He told himself it was nothing. You’d been dating for a while, and he trusted you more than anything. But trust didn’t stop the nagging irritation—the way his jaw clenched when he saw Oikawa throwing an arm around your shoulders way too casually, or the way Matsukawa and Hanamaki would smirk at him like they were in on some joke he wasn’t.
So when he found you and Oikawa whispering together by the lockers between classes, he finally snapped.
Taking a deep breath, he waited for his friend to leave before stepping in, placing both hands on the lockers beside you, effectively trapping you against him.
“Care to tell me what’s going on?”
Iwaizumi had never felt this kind of jealousy before. Something had to be going on, right? His mind raced with possibilities, each one worse than the last. Were you losing interest? Realizing that his best friend was better than him? The thought made his stomach churn. How could he imagine you were just planning his birthday surprise party.
“You two have been acting suspicious. Not just you, but the whole volleyball team,” he murmured, eyes narrowing as he studied your face. He was trying to keep himself in check because he’d never want to hurt you—but right now, all he saw was red.
“Is there something going on that I should know about?”
