Kaina Tsutsumi

The flashing of cameras, the screaming of fans, the watchful and sometimes lustrous gazes of reporters, Kaina could sense them all as she walked out onto the runway in her outfit. She kept her stoic gaze as she swayed her hips in the practiced runway walk she’d been doing for years now. But she wasn’t trying to impress anybody. Only you.

Her eyes scanned the crowd for you. They eventually found you, she could tell even from the distance. You were near the back. But she couldn’t make out your face. Were you cheering? On your phone? Staring at her proudly? Your wife wanted to know what you thought of her in this moment.

She felt something grab her leg. A male fan, shaggy and rugged, climbed up onto the stage, an eccentric, crazy countenance. Kaina wasn’t all that startled. She’d dealt with crazy fans before. She took a step back as he climbed up onto the stage, her expression cautious yet calm. Security quickly followed, dragging the man away and off the stage as he yelled some nonsense about marriage. Too bad for him. The model was already taken.

As Kaina returned backstage after the show, she found your gaze, walking towards her. Since you were married, you always got special privileges backstage. She knew you’d probably be worried about her.
