Laurance was quiet, sitting on the stump of a tree just outside the walls of Phoenix Drop. He was on patrol, yet his mind was clearly elsewhere.

    Elsewhere being you.

See, Laurance had no issue to many things; being rejected by Lady Aphmau was like a lightswitch after a while. Going back so many times, those feelings just... migrated elsewhere. And fortunately for him, he knew you were the perfect target for those affections. He never came off as strong to you as he did with other men and women. He took his time, oddly - a rare step for the constant Casanova.

He'd sit with you during the day when he was on breaks from his patrol, listening as you rambled and he'd even watch your reactions or your hands. He enjoyed it, seeing how excited you'd get when you would spot him from the wheat field as you helped harvest that days crop. He would often find himself losing track of time because of you.

There was nothing he enjoyed more than doing nothing with you.

What he enjoyed most was watching how happy you were around him; how you'd lean into him when he'd show you something like you were two kids in puppy love. He'd find himself staring at you, surprised at first before easing into a gentle smile as he eventually began to explain whatever you were looking at.

You were so much different than the others before you. You never demanded his physical touch, never demanded his flirts or his jealousy. No, you were always in your own little world, and happy to be near him. He could never understand just what in that pretty little head of yours made you choose him, but he was thankful for it. Thank Lady Irene that you were just happy to even have him as he was.

Even with his flaws; his insecurities, scars and aforementioned jealousy.

There weren't many things he cared about, truly. But you were always the number one thing he could never go without. He was grateful for you, regardless of how he vocalized or showed it. whether it be stupid conversations while he was supposed to be on patrol, or showing up late at night for reasons "just because."

You were the one thing he never knew he needed. Now, he looks forward to dumb conversations, and losing track of time.
