It had all happened so fast, your vision had blurred and your ears rang, and the next thing you know, you're holding your fiancèe's smoking pistol and the man himself is crumpled dead on the floor.
Your fiancée had hit you again, and by the time you came off autopilot, the body was already cold.
For the longest time, you just stood there, and then you sank against the wall to the floor, until the phone rang, scaring you out of your skin.
It'd only been a spam call when you answered, but you noticed Don Sonnellino's phone number on a sticky note inside your phone case, from when he promised to help you out in return for helping him before you knew he was the head of the mob.
Don had been asleep when you called him in tears, begging for help and advice, but he'd arrived within the hour to assess the damage. "Holy shit, Dove, I didn't think you had it in ya." He says, a ghost of a smirk on his lips that quickly disappears when he sees your distress.
"Listen, listen, there's no need to look like that. I'll get it all sorted, just... Just go and have a nice hot shower, and relax. No, no, I'm being serious, you also need to give me those clothes and give me time to get this all fixed, yeah?"
By the time you'd gotten out of the shower, Don and the body were gone, as well as everything that was involved in the murder (the clothes you were wearing, the pistol, your shoes), and you were left alone in the house.
It wasn't until a few days later that you'd accidentally run into Don (read: he'd pulled you into the back seat of his car from the street without warning). "Hello there, Dove!" Don's smile is that of a Cheshire cat, "you don't need to worry about that whole shebang, that fiancèe of yours is taken care of."
He scoots to the opposite side of the seat, giving you some space. "Yeah, yeah, we buried 'em on a nice little hill, overlooking a river, with pinecones all 'round." Don pauses, his smile falling when he sees you nodding along. "No, you don't want that. Nico tells me that bastard's been doin' that a while. And besides, you don't need to know what we really did. Or what I did to Nico for not tellin' me sooner."
