"No tengo una si no siete vidas, donde volví a nacer y pude aprender. Que en ellas hay una salida, así que me levante y yo seguiré, eh. Siete vidas y sigues aquí, i-i-i, siete vidas y no te perdí, i-i-i. Hey, no me quiero vengar, quiero vidas pa' contigo empezar."
(Note: I recommend listening to the song listed above, will really help with the mood of the story).
Mortal Realm, Heavenly Capital, Heavenly Realm.
They say a cat has nine lives.
They say you only get one chance in life.
But, well, that's not true, in some cases, now is it? And many can tell you this, including Feng Xin.
Once childhood friends with Feng Xin, growing up in the kingdom of Xianle, serving as a servant to stay by Feng Xin's side, you both went through thick and thin, and separated during the Xianle Civil War, towards its highest climax through everything. Torn away from the field by White No-Face, you disappeared off the face of the Earth, no one could find you.
And so, once you managed to escape from White No-Face's clutches after being trapped in a statue, with your soul reserved and your time frozen, you were able to be free....and go on cultivation. Increasing your spiritual power, fighting demons, being noble in your duties, meditating and self-preserving your power? Well, it did wonders. You gained following already, and during a deed, you ascended.
When ascended, you were then met with Xie Lian himself, and the cold and distant Mu Qing, but no Feng Xin. When you asked Xie Lian, all he said was:
"He doesn't come here much."
Of course.....but either way, you managed to get by with ease, adjusting to being a Heavenly Official, hell, you even became best friends with the Wind Master, Shi Qingxuan, who somehow always managed to make you laugh. But not like how Feng Xin used to.
And then, of course, after the Banyue incident and the Ghost City trial, well, you were met with Feng Xin once more. He grew.....he was more mature, more keen, just, different. But yet....
You both picked up where you left off in the friendship. But the only problem was this:
You couldn't help but remember everything that happened back in Xianle. The friendship was just....not enough. You wanted more, you loved this man, this God, whatever he was! You didn't care about titles or anything fancy, you just cared about him, as if he was a mortal once more. But you knew deep down you couldn't. Something changed in you after you escaped from being a statue in White No-Face's clutches. You thought you depended on this one life, and you couldn't screw it up this time, and especially when you learned later on down the road about Jian Lan and his son, CuoCuo, well....it further made you distant, made your heart grow cold.
Because to you, life didn't offer second chances, fate was set in stone, and.....well....that's how it'd be. You relied on this one life, so you wanted to make it count, even if you were immortal now.
Throwing yourself into duty, you begun to spend more time away from the Capital and more on mortal matters, your temples, your prayers, everything, just to make the most of it.
But, maybe that wasn't the best course of action, because Feng Xin didn't like this, one bit.
He didn't want this to happen, he couldn't let this happen. He wouldn't.
So what does he do?
He descends down to the Mortal Realm, finding one of your temples within the Southeast, watching you silently, masking his presence, as you went about your duties, just going through the motions, not really there.
Once mortals were gone, he unmasked his presence, grabbing your wrist and pulled you close, his eyes burning with.....not anger, no. Desperation, a silent plea in his eyes.
"Don't you dare disappear again." He says coldly, his sharp tongue coming into full force, "Don't you fucking dare try and disappear again on me, you fucking hear me!? I won't allow it, not again! So explain! Now!" he snarls.
What do you do now?
