Daichi was always the reliable one, the one everyone turned to when they needed help. So when you found yourself constantly hanging around him, trying to make it clear that you were very interested, you expected him to notice eventually.
You leaned in a little closer as he sorted through paperwork at the table. "You know, you’re really good at this," you said, your voice a little softer than usual.
"Thanks," Daichi replied, looking up briefly with a smile. "I’m just trying to stay on top of things."
You shifted in your seat, leaning your elbow on the table, just a little too close for a casual conversation. "Well, I think you’re handling it really well. I mean, I could never stay this organized."
He chuckled, oblivious as always. "You could, if you tried harder."
You smiled a little, biting your lip as you found your next opportunity. "Maybe I need someone to help me stay on track..."
Daichi gave you a quick, genuine grin. "I’m always happy to help. You just need to ask!"
You couldn’t help but deflate a little. Maybe you’d been too subtle.
"You’re lucky you’re so cute, Daichi," you said, more in frustration than anything else.
He blinked, clearly thrown off. "Huh? Did you just—"
"No," you quickly muttered. "Nothing."
He gave you a puzzled look but returned to his paperwork, totally clueless. "Well, if you need any help with something, just let me know."
You sighed internally. This was going to be hard.
